We all have days when we don’t feel great. Days when we just want to eat a tub of ice cream in bed, crawl under a blanket, curl up into a ball and sleep off our feelings. Sometimes you know the reason behind your sadness and gloominess, other times, you cannot quite put a finger to it.
This is completely okay. It is normal. It happens.
However, if you are looking to manifest your desires, you’ll need to shift your emotional state.
One of the things that I do to shift my mindset is tap into my 5 senses. By using your senses, you’ll train your brain to focus on something other than the negative thoughts you’re experiencing.
Here are ways to tap into your 5 senses when you’re feeling bad:
To activate touch, take an epsom salt bath or soak your feet in epsom salts for 15 minutes.
Epsom salt is a naturally occurring mineral salt, made up of magnesium and sulfate. The salts can help stabilize mood and anxiety. According to one study, magnesium has been found to increase serotonin (also known as happy chemical, responsible for regulating mood) levels in the brain.
Touch is one of the most stimulating and intimate senses of them all. When you touch an object, your skin cells experience the shape, size, and texture of the object.
Visualize yourself receiving all the things you want – your dreams, desires, goals. Live, feel, and breathe those visuals as if they have already happened – the big house, six-figure bank account, a loving partner.
Push the things you don’t want out of your mind and make space for the ones that count.
Our brain contains a region called Reticular Activation System (RAS) that filters our thoughts so only the necessary information gets through. Visualization may not be similar to “seeing,” however, when you visualize something, you create a mental picture of it in your brain. RAS thus filters out only the visualizations that you focus on.
Sniff a bottle of essential oils or rub a drop on your neck or wrist to soothe your anxiety, and can help you relax.
Pick an oil or smell that you find calming and use it when you are stressed. Your brain will associate the fragrance with relaxation and will help you relax your mind and body.
Listen to crystal singing bowls or frequency music.
These types of sounds can be soothing and meditative. If you experience discomfort, it may be because there are some discordant energies your body needs to work though – this a good thing, embrace it and let it pass!
Food is medicine, especially when you eat the right kind!
Avoid junk or processed food as they are high in fructose corn syrup and MSG – products that block neural pathways and cause depression.
Other food like dark chocolate contains plant-based substances with antioxidants which help sustain cognitive abilities, memory and attention. If you do not like dark chocolate, try fruits and vegetables such as apples, grapes, broccoli, and onions.
The law of attraction doesn’t work without action.
The next time you’re not feeling that great try 2 or more of these exercises. It will help you shift your state of being and feel better.
A few other reminders:
- You control your energy and vibration.
- High vibes will help you attract what you desire.
- Other people, situations or things can impact you, but you have the power to recenter yourself.
Let me know how it goes!
